Who We Are

For over 50 years, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center has been a trusted place in the Quad Cities—bringing people together and providing the support families need to thrive.

Through education, advocacy, and community-building, we help children grow, support families through challenges, and strengthen neighborhoods every day.

Every day, children walk through our doors needing support, guidance,
and a safe place to belong. With your help, we can be there for them.

  • Absolutely YES! The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

    While some programs are fully grant-funded, many of our youth programs, community initiatives, and events rely on donations from individuals, businesses, and local foundations.

    • Neighborhood revitalization efforts

  • YES! We welcome individuals, groups, and community partners who want to support the MLK Center through volunteering, partnerships, mentorship, and community involvement.

  • Yes. We accept donations of essential household and personal care items for the individuals and families we serve.

    Current needs include:
    • Menstrual hygiene products
    • Diapers (all sizes)
    • Laundry detergent
    • Household cleaning supplies
    • Deodorant and body wash

    Donations can be dropped off Monday–Friday between 8am–5pm at the MLK Center.

  • Yes. Tribute and memorial gifts are a meaningful way to honor someone while supporting the MLK Center’s mission and programs.
