Life Skills Group: A Safe Space to Learn, Grow, and Connect

The Family Advocacy Center (FAC) at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges and build a stronger future. Through free supportive services, the FAC works to strengthen families, foster stability, and equip people with the tools they need to thrive.

Services offered through the Family Advocacy Center include:

  • Case management and resource navigation

  • Supportive counseling

  • Direct client assistance with essentials such as food, clothing, IDs, and birth certificates

  • Housing assistance

  • Parenting support and coaching

  • Job readiness services, including resume and interview assistance

  • Transportation assistance for essential appointments and job interviews

  • Life skills empowerment focused on parenting, relationships, anger management, coping skills, and personal growth

The Life Skills Group builds on this mission by creating a safe, welcoming environment where participants can connect with others, discuss real-life challenges, and learn practical strategies for everyday success. Guided by qualified Family Advocacy Center staff, the group encourages personal growth, resilience, and community support.

At the MLK Center, we believe strong individuals build strong families, and strong families build strong communities. Through programs like the Life Skills Group, we continue our mission to inspire greatness in the Quad Cities through community-building, education, and service.
