MLK Prevention Team Supports National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
On October 25, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center’s Prevention Team, led by Carlos Jimenez, partnered with the Rock Island County C.A.U.S.E. Coalition, the DEA, and local law enforcement for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Seven collection sites across Rock Island County gathered 335 pounds of unused and expired medications, helping prevent misuse and protect the environment. Residents safely dropped off pills, patches, and vaping devices (with batteries removed).
“Every pound collected represents a safer home and a stronger community,” said Jimenez. “We’re grateful to our partners and residents for helping make Rock Island County healthier and safer for everyone.”
The MLK Center’s Prevention Team continues to reduce substance misuse through education and community collaboration.
