Soul of the City 2025

A Celebration to Remember

What a day at Franklin Field! From the Jesse White Tumblers flipping through the air to the Funktastic Five keeping the crowd on their feet, from the parade winding through the streets to kids bouncing non-stop, this year’s Soul of the City had it all.

This was our very first year holding the event at Franklin Field, and it will not be the last. The new space gave us room to grow, welcome more families, and bring in even more fun. Judging by the turnout, it was the perfect move.

Food, Fun, and Records Broken

One of the highlights of the day was the Rib Fest, where local grill masters showed off their skills. The winner walked away with bragging rights, but the real winners were the folks who got to taste-test.

And for the kids? Let’s just say they may have set their own record. We might have rented more bounce houses from Jumping Joey’s than ever before. Everywhere you looked, there were kids climbing, sliding, and laughing.

More Than Entertainment

Soul of the City was not only about fun. It was also about connection. Dozens of nonprofits and resource booths lined the field, giving neighbors a chance to learn about services, programs, and opportunities available right here in Rock Island. It was a reminder that our community is full of people working every day to lift each other up.

Community Voices

The best part of the day was hearing from those who came out:

  • “What a beautiful turnout. Looking forward to next year ❤️”

  • “I love this for the Westend.”

  • “Y’all outdid yourselves this year!! Looking forward to the next one!!”

  • “We had a fabulous time!”

  • “Events like this remind us why we do what we do: building connections, lifting each other up, and celebrating the strength and diversity that make our community so special. We’re truly grateful for the chance to share in the energy, unity, and joy of this gathering.”

Thank You

None of this would have been possible without our sponsors, partners, and the many volunteers who pitched in. From setting up booths to serving food to keeping everything running smoothly, you helped bring the West End to life in the best way.
