West End Revitalization Recognized as a 2026 Inspiring Efficiency Award Winner
MidAmerican Energy's Neighborhood Power-Up program is a time-limited, place-based offering that works to improve the energy efficiency of homes, small businesses and multifamily housing in neighborhoods of exceptional needs across Iowa and Illinois.
West End Revitalization is proud to be recognized as a 2026 Inspiring Efficiency Award Winner for the MidAmerican Energy Neighborhood Power Up Pilot in the Innovation category. Year after year, the Inspiring Efficiency Awards honor individuals and organizations that raise the bar for exemplary support of energy efficiency in their communities and advance the clean energy economy across the Midwest. This recognition celebrates leaders who deliver groundbreaking advancements in energy efficiency and create lasting community impact.
The Neighborhood Power Up Pilot reflects the heart of West End Revitalization’s mission. The program is a place based, time limited initiative designed to improve the energy efficiency of homes, small businesses, and multifamily housing in neighborhoods with exceptional needs across Iowa and Illinois. By working closely with city leaders, community organizations, and residents, the program was tailored to meet the specific needs of the West End.
Through this pilot, homeowners, renters, and small business owners received free energy assessments, energy saving items, and enhanced discounts on energy efficient equipment. These improvements help reduce monthly energy expenses, increase comfort, and support long term housing and business stability.
The program ran through the end of November and delivered meaningful results. During that time, 99 home and property owners and 9 small business owners benefited from equipment upgrades offered at a discount. Funding support came from MidAmerican Energy, the Moline Regional Community Foundation, and other committed community partners who recognized the importance of investing directly in neighborhood level solutions.
This award affirms what West End residents and partners already know. When utilities, philanthropy, and community organizations collaborate with intention, energy efficiency becomes a powerful tool for equity, affordability, and neighborhood revitalization.
