Celebrating and Looking Ahead

This weekend marks an important moment for the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

On March 22, we celebrate the anniversary of our building, a place that has served generations of children and families in our community. For more than 50 years, the MLK Center has been a space where young people learn and grow, families find support, and community comes together.

Every day, that work continues.

From after-school programs and Summer Day Camp to prevention education and family support services, the MLK Center provides opportunities that help youth build confidence, strengthen families, and create a stronger community for all of us.

Day of Giving on March 23

As we celebrate our anniversary, we are also launching something new.

On March 23, the MLK Center will host its first Day of Giving, a dedicated day to come together and support the programs that make this work possible.

Our goal is simple:

50 gifts
5 monthly supporters

Every gift helps sustain free programs, expand opportunities for youth, and ensure that families in our community continue to have access to the support they need.

What People Are Saying

“Very glad to help the MLK Center! The Center has been instrumental in our community for a very long time. Dr. King would be extremely proud of the King Center in Rock Island.”

“Very happy to be able to support an amazing facility that has done so much for the community.”

“Congratulations on the first 50! Now, on to the next 50!”

What Your Support Makes Possible

Because of community support, the MLK Center is able to:

  • Provide free after-school programming and Summer Day Camp

  • Offer prevention education to youth across the community

  • Deliver counseling and support through the Family Advocacy Center

  • Host community events that bring people together

This work is not possible without the support of individuals, families, businesses, and partners who believe in the mission of the MLK Center.
